Project Information
Description
The Kuşçu Neighbourhood Environmental and Recreation Project was developed for the recreation-oriented redevelopment of an approximately 24-hectare site located along the shoreline of the Yamula Dam Reservoir. The project aims to preserve the natural landscape while making it accessible for public use, enhance the recreational potential of the area, and create a high-quality open-space system that supports the newly developing residential areas.
Site Analysis
Within the scope of the study, the site’s topography, relationship with the shoreline, existing transportation network, vegetation, and user potential were evaluated. The terrain slope, scenic viewpoints, and existing social facilities were analysed to develop an integrated spatial organization connecting recreational areas, sports facilities, picnic areas, and waterfront uses.
Design Approach
The design approach is based on an integrated planning concept that preserves the natural landscape character while bringing together different recreational needs within a unified system. Walking paths, plazas, picnic areas, sports and water-based activities, scenic viewpoints, and social facilities have been connected through a strong pedestrian network, while site-planning decisions adapted to the topography ensure the preservation of the area’s natural identity. The proposed landscape interventions aim to transform the shoreline of the Yamula Dam Reservoir into a sustainable recreational area that enriches the user experience and serves different age groups throughout the year.
